What Makes a Great Salesperson?

What makes a great salesperson?

I can sum in up in one word–serving.  And don’t think for a second that serving means being subservient.  I’m talking about being proactive, and making an effort to ensure that customers are served well.  Serving means you’re excited about what you have to offer, and you have believe you’ve got a great product at a great price.  It means you’re determined your customer is going to have a great experience.”  Dave Ramsey.

Amen Dave.  Have a great weekend everyone.

The Dave Ramsey Effect

About five years ago I was introduced to Dave Ramsey.  My wife and I had been married for a couple of years, we recently moved, I started a new job, and we had no good plan for handling our money.

I started searching around in bookstores for a good financial book and let me tell you, there are many to choose from.  I happened to pick up a book called, or so I thought, called “The Total Money Makeover”, by Dave Ramsey.   If it is any indication of how we were handling our money at that time, it wasn’t even the actual book.  It was the workbook supplement.

That being said, I started going through it and loved the information.  I immediately went to his website, www.daveramsey.com, and started doing some more investigation.

That started a snowball of events.  I soon got the actual, “The Total Money Makeover” book and subscribed to his premium website, www.mytmmo.com.

It was amazing to  realize all of the stupid money mistakes we had been making.  I was like a sponge and I wanted more.  I started listening to “The Dave Ramsey Show” almost everyday on podcasts during my commute to work.  The show is refreshing mix of information and entertainment.  The callers run the show and Dave is direct and to the point, but also sensitive in how he can help them.  My wife and I also facilitated, “Financial Peace University” last year.  This is a 13 week class that gets in even more detail about handling your money.

Since I listen to “The Dave Ramsey Show” on podcast I rarely hear the commercials that run so I was unfamiliar with some of Dave’s endorsements.  I had seen some information on Dave’s website about endorsed local providers, but never really thought much of it.  Endorsed local providers, or ELP’s are professionals in real estate, taxing, investing, and insurance that follow Dave’s principles and have the heart of a teacher.

For many years, Dave had a health insurance ELP, but not one for property and casualty insurance.  Then in the fall of 2009, I heard that they were starting a endorsed local provider program for property/casualty insurance.  I was a little late to find out, so my first thought was, “I wonder who the local person is around here?”  As I started to check into it, I realized that there may be an opportunity to become on of Dave’s endorsed local providers.

Long story short, I became Dave’s insurance ELP in November of 2009.  This has been an incredible experience as I am able to serve those who have similar financial goals.  The people of have met and been able to help are wonderful.  If you are curious on the benefits of using an ELP, click here.

I strive very hard to offer all of my prospect and clients solid insurance options, suggestions, and have the heart of a teacher.  I am truly blessed to be part of this program and look forward to serving others in the future.
